Common mistakes to avoid
Presenting incremental work as a frontier idea. A larger dataset, a routine validation study, or a predictable next step may be valuable research but does not match this call’s purpose. Show the departure from existing research directions.
Treating uncertainty as an excuse for a weak plan. NERC accepts uncertain outcomes, not unclear objectives. Define what will be tested, what evidence will matter, and what the team will do after different results.
